What is Cubic Zirconia?
Cubic Zirconia, also known as CZ, looks very close to a diamond because of its brilliance and sparkle but is actually a man-made crystalline material. Cubic Zirconia can be made into different colors but most CZ’s are colorless and flawless in clarity. CZ’s look so close to a natural diamond that most people, with an untrained eye, will not be able to tell the difference between it and a genuine diamond.
Commercial production of CZ began in the 1970’s, and demand has continued to grow over since. Cubic Zirconia provides the consumer the opportunity to own a beautiful item of jewelry with the look of a diamond.
What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% parts pure silver and 7.5% parts other metal alloys (usually copper). The alloys are added to increase the hardness and durability of the metal so that it can be worn in every day jewelry. Sterling Silver is often plated with other metals to keep it from tarnishing (a natural reaction of the silver turning black over a period of time after being exposed to oxygen). White plating is usually done with Rhodium, a metal in the Platinum family. Yellow plating is usually done with yellow gold. Rose plating is usually done with rose gold. Sometimes silver can be plated with a clear liquid, called e-coat, that allows the silver metal color to show but seals it off from oxidation. Sterling silver is an alternative for a precious white metal, and allows you to get the same look.

The best way to care for your jewelry is to make sure it is the last thing you put on and first thing you take off. Avoid exposing it to chemicals, like chlorine, strong detergents and ammonia that could damage the finish. If you need to clean your jewelry, a simple soak in warm water and a light brushing with a very soft toothbrush and a gentle wipe with a soft cloth should do the trick.

Lovely earrings
This is the second pair of these earrings I’ve ordered. I own one and gave the other as a gift. They are beautiful and comfortable to wear. Because if the lever back clasp, you need not worry about losing them. I wear them all the time. They haven’t tarnished or lost any stones with constant wear. They are an amazing value.
