I bought these to reduce the musty odor in a vintage dresser I recently refinished. I’d taken the dresser apart, sanded every surface of each drawer, thoroughly cleaned the inside of the dresser frame with vinegar and water. Once dry, the mustiness was back. I tried baking soda, let it sit for a day, then vacuumed it out. No luck. I washed with Murphy’s Oil Soap. Two days later the odor was back. Lastly, I sprayed it down with Odor-B-Gone. The musty odor came back in a few days. I put a lot of work into refinishing this dresser and was devastated that it still smelled musty. A friend recommended charcoal bags. I bought these and put one in each drawer after applying drawer liners and wonderfully smelling furniture salve (Wise Owl, A Walk In The Woods scent) to the wooden drawer slides. Left town for a week and came back to find the musty odor is totally gone! All I smell when I open each drawer is the faint scent of A Walk In The Woods. I highly recommend these charcoal bags!

Work great as long as you follow the directions
After reading some of the reviews that said these did not work I’m just wondering if they put them out in direct sun for 4 to 5 hours to activate the charcoal I’m glad I read the directions and it also says you have to reactivate the charcoal every 30 days I put them in one of my empty rooms that started to have a musty smell in about five days later the smell had immensely dissipated. Two weeks later the smell was completely gone. Don’t forget to activate them in direct sunlight.

Really works!
at first it didn’t seem like it was doing much but after a few hours the smoke smell started to disappear, after a couple of days the room has no more smoke smell ,now I’ll be putting the smaller ones in the car,great product needs a little time to work.

Unfortunately it’s not working. Placed them everywhere but the smells still exist. Not sure how it works out for everybody else. Good price and comes in decent quantities but maybe that’s why it didn’t work.

I’m now a charcoal believer!
I wasn’t expecting how well these would work. Plus they’re beautifully constructed.We live in Florida so have high humidity. We’ve tried various products and these are not only elegant but super effective. Who ever thought charcoal could be so beautiful! We’ve hung them up closets & the garage, plus put them in our suitcases and the holiday decorations in the attic. They’re better than air fresheners because they’re unscented so you just get the fragrance of fresh air. There’s also a lot of them so they can be spread around in many places.

Love the look of these! I have them in several old wood cabinets and enclosed bookshelves, and they have removed the musty smell. Make sure you “air them out” in the sunlight as recommended!

I was desperate as the new apartment we moved in smelled so bad. I put them everywhere. After a week or so, the smell was almost completely gone.I use them in the bathroom for moisture too. I use them in the car.I tried it with the new second hand car we bought, it also smelled really really bad. I can’t say it worked 100% (it’s a really really old car that hasn’t been cleaned for years), but it is much better than it was.I guess it depends on the source of the smell, maybe lower you expectations if it is really bad, but it does offer relief for sure, it did for me, I am planning on buying more.

Onze kleding stonk naar natte was. We hadden alles geprobeerd. Warm wassen, verschillende wasmiddelen en wasverzachters, de wasmachine gereinigd. Alleen zonder (voldoende) succes.Tot mijn vriendin las over mogelijke schimmelvorming in kledingkasten. In iedere kast een klein zakje heeft het probleem opgelost.
