Our malas are hand-knotted between each seed and gemstone, allowing one to chant their mantra — a sound or string of words — and keep track of were they are.

Here are some more popular reasons behind the 108 mythology in mala beads.
Chakras
One of our favourite explanations for having 108 beads on a mala is related to the chakras (the seven energy points in our body).

The PERFECT Japa Mala
This is absolutely the most amazing mala I own, and I have somewhere around 25-30. Everything about it is perfect. And what makes the perfect mala (for me) you ask? First of all the beads are 8mm – not too big, not too small. Often times I will find a beautiful mala only to open the link and discover the beads are only 5-6mm. I don’t have large hands but find anything less than 8mm beads cumbersome, and anything bigger than 8mm too large to wear all the time. I also like malas to have the beaded tassel vs the frayed string tassel because they look cleaner.One thing, for me, that is an absolute MUST HAVE is that the guru bead is larger than the rest of the beads. We mala users all know that is is considered disrespectful to cross the guru bead. When I am meditating with my eyes closed it is too easy to pass the guru bead if it is the same size as the rest of them. I know some will disagree, but I also like my malas to be on an elastic cord vs a knotted string. This way it fits nicely when I wrap it around my wrist. However, some people are selling malas where the elastic string is so cheap that it stretches easily in a short amount of time. This makes it easy to break, makes the beads noisy when they clank together and is just plain ugly. This mala comes on high quality stretch cord.Finally, the stones. Often times when a purchase of gemstone or gemstone items are purchased from overseas you are getting scammed, especially is the price is cheap. Most of the time what you are getting is lab created stones or dyed glass. These stones are the REAL DEAL! They are heavy and a couple of them have slight imperfections which is a quality of a genuine gemstone. I can’t stress enough what a wonderful gem this mala is and it is with me at all times. There are three reasons I keep my mala with me.1. To remind me to take time to be still and quiet my mind.2. In case I happen to be someplace I wasn’t expecting (especially in nature or near water) that I might want to meditate.3. As a reminder to be mindful.This beautiful mala does not disappoint and it one of my greatest Amazon purchases.

I love the weight the tigers eye beads have, they are beautiful! The beads are held together tightly and not by a cheap elastic band. I don’t have to be scared of it breaking apart that’s for sure. I have small wrists and can fit the beads around 5 times. Comes with a nice bag to hold the beads aswell 🙂

Perfect Beading, Elastic Cord could be stronger
I purchased this because the cats kept munching on my sandlewood one until the beads broke.The tiger eye beads on this are quality as shown in picture and sturdy enough to survive cats. The only disappointment is that the elastic string isn’t strong enough and stretches out way too fast when I wear it on my wrist between uses.

Impressed Newbie!
I just wanted something cheap and effective and this exceeded my expectations. I was worried about the bead amount being accurate-it is! It ha also 6 additional decorative beads which make it aesthetically pleasing. I was also worried about the size because I wanted to wrap it around my wrist day-to-day but my wrist measures 6.5 and my hands are quite large which leaves me fews options in terms of wrist accessories but the elastic cord was adjustable and I managed to wrap it 5 times around comfortably. I was also worried about the elastic cord but it looks really sturdy..I can’t say anything yet though because I have a way with breaking even the most sturdiest of things. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase!

I know a little better now
I got this for my mantras. That’s all I use it for. It’s not a fashion statement I just use it for meditation. There’s a couple of things to be aware of. If you’re looking to use this as jewelry it will be great. There are no knots between the beads, and it’s heavy, so when going through the beads it has a tendency to stick. The stretch material used to keep it together doesn’t really help. It is beautiful though. I don’t regret my purchase, but I know what I’m looking for now.

Fantastic Value
I really don’t think you can find a better quality for this price. The stones appear genuine Tiger Eye and they are approximately 8mm. To even buy the 114 stone beads that this Mala provides would cost much much more than this.Mine was sent with and extra bead (109 beads + 1 guru bead + 6 beads on the end) so I will have to take off 1 bead to make it correct.I will probably replace the elastic cord with a knotted silk cord and remove the extra bead to bring it more in line with a traditional Mala.I would say that the 8mm size feels quite small (I did measure them) but if they were bigger, it might be a little too heavy to be comfortable as a bracelet.
