You get a lot in a little package
This little box has several sounds to sleep to and the option to have it shut off at 1,2,3, or 4 hours or just stay on until you shut it off. I love the sounds of the babbling brook. There are three recordings for each sound on many of the settings. The waves are okay, the rain has one setting I like and 2 not so much. I like all 3 Brook settings and the waves are just okay for me. The white noise settings I just don’t use. Nor do I use birds which would just keep me awake. No use for trains as I live 150 ft from one. Campfire is okay. Easy to use and good volume control too. I do wish it had thunderstorms and maybe wolves howling with soft waves. All in all you get a lot for little money. Highly recommend.

Good YouTube alternative
I had been listening to rain sounds on YouTube for years to help get to sleep. This required keeping my TV on for hours and a good internet connection. This was a cheap alternative that made the whole process much easier. Now all I have to do is press a single button.I scoured many other product reviews before landing on this one and although it doesn’t do everything I’d like it to, it was the best value for the money and satisfied most of my requirements. Many other options had complaints that they could hear when the track looped. Having listened to the rain track for about a week now I can say that I’ve never heard this on this device. I’m sensitive to sounds starting/stopping and this would wake me up easily. Another drawback when relying on YouTube.This was one of the few options that allowed infinite playback. Others stopped after 4 or 5 hours which is useless to me. I’d wake right up as soon as it stopped playing and I need a solid 8 hours.YMMV but I preferred putting the device on its side so the speaker faced out instead of down. The audio just didn’t sound right bouncing off the bureau.Things I wished it had: battery backup. It’s great still being able to listen if the internet goes out but what about the power? Battery backup would have been a nice option that I would have paid a little extra for.Glow in the dark or back-lit buttons. The top of the unit has a light to tell you which track you’re on and which time length but these will always be on the same 2 settings for me so it really didn’t matter. However, the power, volume, skip forward/back, etc are not back-lit so if you don’t know where they are you’ll be fumbling in the dark or will have to turn on a light. I may get a glow in the dark paint marker to help out on dark mornings. In the meantime, I’ve memorized where the power button is and that’s all I really need for now.In summary, if you like falling asleep to rain sounds, need something that plays continuously and don’t want to be woken up by track looping, this is a great little box that doesn’t take up much room and won’t break the bank!

Some great things, others major downsides
I got lazy when purchasing this sound machine and didn’t look for all my necessities when buying a new sound machine. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the bill.Things I need that this doing machine does have:* USB plug – since the AC adapter cords always seem to go bad (PASS)* Adjustable volume, LOUD settings – many I’ve tried don’t get nearly loud enough (PASS)Things this sounds machine lacks:* Power operated by switch or dial instead of button so it automatically comes back on after power outage (FAIL)* Battery back up – in case power goes out and for travel (FAIL)* Automatically switch to battery backup (FAIL)I absolutely love how loud this sound machine is. It’s lifted off the floor a bit and the speaker output is on the bottom of it so the sound waves bounce off the hardwood floor and it’s super loud. I also like the white noise sound. Some sounds machines have a glassy white noise that’s like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. This one has a box fan/hair dryer ish white noise sound that’s so much better.I was all set to buy two more for my other kids’ rooms and then one night this week, power went out. I did my usual walkthrough of the kids’ rooms to put batteries into the sound machines for the remainder of the night only to find out this one doesn’t take batteries! Ugh! Off to search for a new one!

Considering I paid only $25. for this little box, it’s certainly worth the money.What I like: Ease of use, compact size, sound quality is very acceptable, the sound names engraved on the surface are a good way to know what you actually listen to.The timer choices are good, although I don’t use this feature often – I usually let my unit On all night long.What I don’t like: I find there are only 8 sounds good enough to listen to, which is about the third of all the choices – this is MY taste, of course. I feel the rest of them is not worth listening to. The train is the worst.Also… the lights on top are definitely not too bright, nor disturbing.For people who want to move the unit to other rooms: just get another usb cable. This is really not an issue. Also, most power bars now have usb ports, in which you can connect this unit, without the need of another power supply.

I love this product. Very relaxing, I play it when I’m reading in bed. I actually really like the “train” sound. It only whistles once at the beginning. I find the sound very soothing. The meditation one is really nice too.
