This workbook is much bigger than I expected. I was happily surprised to find all of the writing tips and exploration of genres. This gives just the right amount of guidance while also letting kids run wild with their imagination. I like the format and structure and that it’s easy for kids to select what interests them without having to necessarily go in order. Very spacious and includes places for kids to illustrate their stories. Super fun to see what your kid can come up with

What I love about this workbook is that it’s not just a bunch of prompts slapped together. Each chapter discusses the basics of a specific genre and provides practical writing tips. I really like the range of genres – like survival stories, adventure, animal stories, etc that you don’t usually see in these kinds of workbooks. The story starters / prompts themselves are creative and unique. I also like that the prompts aren’t just a list of questions but instead provide a few inspiring sentences to get started. This is really helpful for kids who have lots of ideas swirling around but don’t know where to start.
