good spiritual poems
There are many good poems in this book representing many years and many traditions. There were some I didn’t like much though. I am glad I bought the book and I will read it again.

A stunning collection
I’d ordered this book from our library system to share with a group studying mysticism. The words of these women over an immense span of time are moving and insightful. I shared two of the poems with our group and several people intend to purchase the book for themselves. Jane Hirshfield is an admired poet who has completed a seemingly impossible task in gathering these works.

Lacking tax information
I am satisfied with the book, the delivery etc. However, the tax information in the parcel was not sufficient, so the Danish custom stopped it and I had to pay tax once more – and an penalty of 25 USD, which has made the purchase rather expensive.

Great book
i love Jane hirshfield’s poetry and she did not disappoint in this volume of writings by other women. she is informative in her introductions to the authors and skillful in her arrangements and translations of the authors, including her picks for other translators.

Be prepared to be wow’ed
This amazing poet has gathered an amazing succession of women’s prayers and blessings from many corners of the world and through many centuries. Be prepared to be deeply moved. If you are a woman, be prepared to applaud.

Beautiful and inspiring
I read some of these poems on the Poetry Foundation App and subsequently ordered this book. These poems derive their inspiration from a number of different religions, but most address the Divine in a graceful, inspiring fashion.

As a poet I wanted to connect with ancient spiritual writing.

This did happen to everyone else? I’m stunned that you are all giving this 5 stars when it’s the crappiest edition of a “book” I’ve ever seen. I am extremely interested in the content but this is no more than a fanzine. Should I have known maybe i’d buy the hardcover edition, but i’m not sure if it’s the same quality.

If you are a lover of poems then it’s a must buy for you! ❤️ Usually women poems and poets are not so appreciated but this collection will definitely show how powerful they are. The collection has poems of different women poets from all over the world.

I never imagined I’d be reading a poem written by the Queen of Sheba. The brief biographies of the women whose poems are included are as intriguing as the poems are powerful. Jane Hirshfield has done another remarkable job here. The Ink Dark Moon, has been a personal favourite for years, and this book has joined it on my bedside table in a permanent place of honour.

Definitely a good book, the contents that is, but it was somewhat marred by a lot of doodles on the edges and in the back.
